Project: Za-Isu

Client: Noda Furniture, Japan

Date: 2000

This za-isu seat is made from a single sheet of thin plywood. The chair compliments the za-taku table, and derives its form from the art of origami. The plywood is folded, much like paper, to make a gently curving and comfortable seat. A metal support frame is attached to the plywood seat using two coins as construction tools. The frame provides the structural strength for the chair.
